The owner of a hairdresses salon in Chicago says he’s been to “the movies before” and says he’ll talk to the media if asked about his business.
ABC News is bringing you the interview with Chris Stansfield, owner of Rizwan.
Stansfield says he started his salon, Rizwaan Salon, in 1996, and has been in business for the past six years.
“I started this place for myself and my family and I’m proud to say that we’ve brought back some of the memories that we left behind,” he said.
Rizwan Salon’s motto is, “The salon is here to entertain and enrich you with freshness.”
The salon has more than 2,500 customers.
“The most important thing that we do is entertain people and we’re a place where people can be themselves,” Stansford said.
Stains and waxes are made by hand and cost $6 a person.
The salon also offers a “hair-and-makeup service,” which is where a professional stylist creates a manicure or eyebrow.
Stain remover is also available, which costs $20.
The service also provides a free salon appointment.
Stanesfield says the salon offers haircuts, brows and make-up services for men and women.
“We’re trying to make people smile.
You can’t tell us that you’re happy to be here, but you can tell us how happy you are to be in this business,” he added.
Stinsfield said the salon was not a big draw to young people, but that it has been gaining popularity with adults who were looking for something different.
“I can’t imagine how many people we’ve had that have said they came here because they were looking to do something different, and they really wanted to get out and have fun,” he told ABC News.
The business opened in 2016 and has since added more than 10 new locations in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and New Jersey.
